I participated in a climate change rally held at Queens Park, Toronto the seat of the Ontario Provincial government.
The rally was organized by Friday for Future, a group dedicated to building a youth voice for solving our climate crisis. #Fridayforfuture meets every first friday of the month to take action on a climate issue.
There were over 40 climate activists in attendance with a rich blend of children, youth and adults. Also in attendance were members of the press corps and Toronto Police ensuring that the rally received media coverage and held peacefully.
We began with speeches and songs addressing the need to act on the climate crisis in Ontario Canada, and the ongoing Wetsu’wet’en defence of their land against pipeline expansion. The extreme weather alert meant that we move and get warm by marching the south perimeter of Queens Park with our signs.
We ended at the Ministry of the Environment building at 77 Wellesley where a smaller delegating of kids delivered a letter to the Minister of the Environment, Rod Phillips, requesting a meeting him to discuss the Ontario Climate Plan.
PACC Canada is happy to be part of this rally and look forward to attending future #fridayforfuture events.
